New Bus Stop On Park Street

Following requests from local residents and supported by HDNC, a new local bus stop serving the bottom end of Park Street (southbound) has been installed near Horace Fuller’s.

Trains and the Railway Station

HDNC was closely involved with the improvements to the railway station and is now working together with Forest Neighbourhood Council to bring together Southern Rail, Network Rail and the local authorities to solve any outstanding problems – including the renovation of the subways under the railway line and North Street, so they are more pleasant to use.

The main entrance of Horsham Railway Station lies in the HDNC area, but the car park and rear entrance fall in the Forest Neighbourhood Council area. Between the two Councils, we have co-operated in contacting Southern Rail and the local authorities to ensure they were aware of issues concerning our residents, and in making other improvements during the station refurbishment and building of the new forecourt area. We continue to work together with all interested parties to find solutions and funding for further improving the subways.

Roads

Potholes: We report pothole and drainage problems across the Denne Neighbourhood area and urge all of our residents to report problems anywhere in the county using the new reporting system: Report a pothole online – West Sussex County Council

The process for reporting road and pavement issues has changed

West Sussex County Council has changed the process for reporting road & pavement issues replacing it with mobile device friendly online forms and maps.

Please select Report a problem with a road or pavement to be redirected to WSCC website for the issue you want to report.

To make it easier to find what you are looking for, we have grouped specific defect types together as follows: Flooding, blocked drains and gullies; Road and cycle path faults (including potholes); Pavement and verges; Trees, hedges, weeds and grass and Obstructions on the road, pavement or cycle path (this excludes abandoned vehicles & vehicles causing an obstruction).

Reports are automatically loaded into our Highways Case Management System and assigned to the right team.
Customers who historically reported via Love West Sussex are being redirected to the correct online form for the issue being reported.
If you have bookmarked or saved the Love West Sussex web online URL and/or App to your device then please delete and save Report a problem with a road or pavement.

Reporting issues and viewing case updates

Online reporting enables you to:

create an account, saving you time when reporting and keeping a log of your submitted reports.
use the map to check if the issue has already been reported and view the status of current open reports.
subscribe to updates about existing reports by viewing them on the report form map, selecting the pin for the report and submitting your email address.

To receive progress updates you must register for an account or provide an email address when you submit your report.

General Reminder

WSCC does not manage the following issues. Residents should contact:

their District Council for parking, fly tipping, graffiti, litter or street cleaning and bus shelters.
Operation Crackdown for reporting and dealing with abandoned vehicles in West Sussex.
Vehicles causing an obstruction should be reported to Sussex Police.
National Highways for information or reporting problems about motorways and Major A roads including the A23, M23 and A27.

West Sussex Highways Updates

To receive regular information directly from West Sussex Highways, follow them on their Twitter page. They endeavour to put all roadwork updates and daily gritting service areas (when applicable) on there to notify as many people as possible. They also include other important information that may affect roads and footways in your area.

Mobility Scooter and Powered Wheelchair Safety

Many people are unaware that only certain categories of mobility scooters may be driven on the roads, and that owners really should have insurance for when they do so in case of an accident – as with any other road going vehicle. Unfortunately, where you need to pass a driving test to be able to take a motor vehicle out and about, the same cannot be said with mobility scooters. Frequently customers buy their scooters and are given no advice or instruction on how to operate it safely – or whether they should have insurance or not.

Horsham District Older Peoples Forum and Horsham Town Community Partnership have therefore teamed up with Age UK Horsham District, Horsham District Council and Clearwell Mobility, to provide FREE Mobility Scooter and Powered Wheelchair Safety Training. If you or a friend or relative have a powered scooter or wheelchair, book on to one of the two hour sessions and get safe. You can find out more here.

Operation Crackdown

Do you hate anti-social driving? Or perhaps have an abandoned vehicle in your street? Then report it to Sussex Police through their Operation Crackdown website. Please try to be as detailed as possible in your report as it will help the police to take any action required.
